In 1986 Terry Starnes built his first belt buckle. He used a work bench at his family's business and used what tools that he could gather up. He had no intention of ever making a business out of this venture, he thought it would be a good hobby. It didn't take too long for word to spread about this "hobby" and soon he was spending his spare time and nights building buckles and jewelry for friends and family members. In a few short months a local team roping promoter called and asked if he could make a pair of buckles for an event that he was having and as they say "the rest is history".

These days Terry and his oldest son Marty, a partner and quite a silversmith in his own right, stay busy with not only trophy buckles but custom buckles and jewelry. Their custom creations have wound up in the hands of such people as actor/artist Buck Taylor, singer/songwriter Stoney LaRue and 5 time World Champion Bullfighter Rob Smets.

True West magazine named SQUAW CREEK SILVER "Best Silversmith of 2004".

"The thing that we are most proud of is that everything that comes from SQUAW CREEK SILVER is still built right here in Rainbow Texas, U.S.A. and is still hand made one piece at a time" says Starnes.
